The Proposal

It was October 24th 2014 and my birthday had just passed on the 20th. Jay happened to be very busy with ”projects” at that time and was out of town for work. He wanted to make it up to me and told me he had planned a beautiful lunch for us the next day. Being who I am and loving to celebrate my birthday, I immediately agreed! He said he would be over that evening to hang out.

Jay had arranged for my roommate and good friend, Poonam, to take me to get my nails done on the 24th. She told me it was my birthday gift from her…little liar 😉

So after getting my nails done I waited around for Jay to come over. I waited…and I waited…and I waited. Very upset, I called him to ask why he was so late. He said he would be there as soon as he could. I didn’t want him to do the long drive from Long Island to New Jersey that late. (Now come to find out he was late prepping for all the secrets that would be revealed the next day…hind sight is always 20/20).

On Saturday October 25th 2015 I woke up to sunshine on my face and the smell of an autumn breeze. It was a beautiful day. Jay told me that I would have to get ready on time because he didn’t want to be late for our lunch reservation (we are notoriously on Indian standard time). Follow the timeline below to see how the events unfolded…

10:00am Jay begins to pace the apartment. He’s ready. Payal’s not, of course.

The day Jay proposed was the most magical day of my life. We always had a running joke that I was a princess and he was my toad. That day, he brought his princess to the castle and I had found my Prince Charming. Every moment of the proposal was executed perfectly and he didn’t miss any details. He included all of our close friends and family. That’s what makes Jay so special J and me so lucky J That day was the beginning of our forever…
